Current Openings
History Teacher
The Ethel Walker School, a boarding and day school for girls in grades 6-12 located in Simsbury, CT, is seeking a full time teacher of History. Course load may include (but is not limited to), World History at the Upper School level, US History at the Middle School level or any one of a series of elective courses. Candidates should have a BA degree in either History or a closely related field. Preference will be given to those candidates with advanced degrees (MA, PhD) in History or Education / Teaching and who have some experience in the classroom. No certification is required.
Summer Arts Academy Camp Counselor
Summer@Walker's Summer Arts Academy counselors are the primary caregivers for each camper. Counselors are responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities as they guide campers in their personal growth and daily living skills. Counselors are expected to utilize their knowledge of their particular art focus to educate the campers each day.
Summer@Walker's Global Girls Academy Internship
The Global Girls Academy at The Ethel Walker School is a 3-week, intensive summer English language and American culture immersion program. Girls from around the world become acclimated to many aspects of learning – and living – in the United States.
Internship responsibilities include working with an experienced teacher in one major course (History and/or English) beginning as an observer and eventually teaching lessons independently, observing other teachers in their classes, leading one afternoon sport or activity, chaperoning various trips and activities, living in and helping supervise dormitories at night and on weekends, and supervising meals, free time and other times of the day.

SPHERE Diversity Hiring Fair
Faculty, staff, and administrators of SPHERE schools are invited to attend a Diversity Hiring Fair at the Watkinson School on Saturday, March 3, 2012. from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. The fair will include an overview of SPHERE schools as well as opportunities to meet with SPHERE representatives, submit résumés, and learn about future career opportunities. SPHERE is a consortium of ten independent Greater Hartford schools dedicated to diversity.
