Tuition covers all required expenses such as technology fees, publications, educational enrichment, on-campus meals, I.D. cards and routine Health Center use. The school also provides local transportation, called the "area drive," at no additional charge for trips to the mall, downtown Hartford, other schools for special events, and local weekend entertainment. For longer, optional trips that require a bus rental (e.g., an excursion to Boston or New York City), each participating student is charged a prorated amount. Field trips and material for studio arts, dance, horseback riding, private music lessons and private tutoring services have additional costs. Health insurance is available at an additional fee.
Tuition Refund Insurance
The Ethel Walker School offers a variety of payment plans. Some of these plans require purchase of tuition refund insurance; others allow for this insurance to be purchased at the family's option. The cost for this insurance is an additional charge, equal to 3.9% of net tuition (gross tuition less financial aid).
Financial Aid
The financial aid application process requires an online application through School and Student Service for Financial Aid, available at sss.nais.org. Current tax returns are required as part of the FA application process, and eligibility for aid will consider income, assets, expenses and liabilities. The school is not able to meet full need, and asks every family to pay according to their ability.
