Fitness and Health

Ethel Walker was a great believer in the sound body/sound mind approach to learning.

Walking, horseback riding and other forms of exercise held an important place in school life at Walker's from the outset. Walker's holds fast to that legacy today, with personal fitness options, outstanding athletics, equestrian and dance programs which allow students a myriad of options to enjoy the activity of their choice.

Staying in shape is good for learning! In addition to the great array of organized sports and dance at Walker's, on campus you'll find terrific options for individual training as well. Take a run on our beautiful campus, join a yoga class, or work out in our Goodrich Fitness Center, with a beautiful view of the Farmington Valley and surrounding mountains.

The Fitness Center, along with our Gym, Dance Studio and outdoor space, provide plenty of opportunities to stay in shape. Along with its beautiful view of the valley, the Center features:

  • 4 Precor Treadmills
  • 5 Precor Elliptical Fitness Cross Trainers
  • 4 Self Powered Cycles
  • 3 Concept II Rowing Ergometers
  • Cybex Strength Training Equipment
  • Hand weights, mats, exercise balls and more

Training and locker rooms round out these facilities.
