Summer Riding Experience
The Summer Riding Experience, Walker’s popular summer riding camp, is an extension of the rich program we offer students during the school's academic year. The camp offers a safe, comprehensive and enjoyable program for a small number of riders of all ability levels, and assists them in developing self-confidence and good horsemanship skills.
SRE is an extension of the Walker's riding program, one of the leading scholastic equestrian programs in the country. At SRE, riders will learn elements of equitation, jumping, dressage and cross country. Each day, campers will spend up to five hours in horse-related activities including riding, learning stable management, and horse care. We work in small groups and individually so each rider will benefit from close and careful attention.
Campers are welcome to bring their own horses or ride one of the many horses owned by the school; riders are assigned to a horse most suited to their ability.
The equestrian facilities at The Ethel Walker School are among the finest in the northeast. As many as 60 horses can be stabled in the Frank O.H. Williams Barn and two adjacent barns. The Henderson Riding Ring offers a 100' x 200' lighted arena, lounge, and spectator gallery. Three tack rooms provide ample storage. The Smallwood Outdoor arena includes both warm up and ring areas, a dressage area, and a jumping course. Completing the picture are multiple turn-out areas, a cross country course, and miles of wooded trails.
The daily schedule is designed to provide an ample supply of riding and horse-related activities, and lots of fun! Other activities include a talent show, field trips, and visits to the town pool.

A Message to Parents

Each girl attending SRE must have up-to-date medical and hospital insurance coverage under her family's plan. Walker's is within fifteen minutes of three major medical centers.
A detailed list of requirements will be provided to you upon registration.
