Chapel Program

On Wednesdays, the daily Walker's schedule includes a required Chapel or Assembly meant to provide spiritual, cultural, and social enrichment for the school community. These gatherings are opportunities for student groups to organize an assembly related to their group’s special interests. Chapels focus on issues related to religion, ethics, or other relevant topics, though they are not religious services. Twice a year, bells are rung during a chapel in memory of people related to the Walker’s community who have recently passed away.

The locations for all of the Wednesday chapel meetings are indicated in the Weekly Calendar, which is posted on public e-mail, as well as on several bulletin boards around the school and at the Reception Desk. Twice a year, at Thanksgiving and during the Winter Holidays, we have Vespers, which is an evening chapel. These services focus on the seasonal holidays and include musical selections, meditations, and a talk or reading by the Head of School or an invited guest.
