Student Clubs and Organizations
Students at Walker's find many ways to enrich their lives and the life of the school community through participation in one or more of the many student organizations we offer. Want to start a new club? Speak with the Dean of Students office for a start. A club is a wonderful opportunity to learn a new skill, help someone in need, or enlighten fellow students!
Big Seven
Provides leadership and student governance; seniors elected to Big Seven serve as officers of all school activities and of student government.
Cicerone Society
Assists the Admissions Office by giving tours to prospective students and their families, as well as to other important visitors to campus.
Dance Workshop
This is an intense dance program for the serious student of dance who wishes to develop her artistic and technical skills. Members are given numerous performance opportunities and are awarded a varsity letter annually by the Athletic Council.
Dance workshop members are selected at an audition that takes place at the onset of the academic year.
Ethel Walker Athletic Council (EWAC)
Helps raise funds in support of athletics at Walker's, sponsors recognition ceremonies for athletes each season and provides leadership for the overall program
Grapes
An a cappella singing group that performs at school functions and off-campus events
Proctors
Serve as mentors and assist housefaculty in supervising residence life, and day students with school life
Suns and Dials
Serve as spirit organizations that initiate New Girls into Walker's traditions and sponsor various special events
Amnesty International
Sponsors letter-writing campaigns on behalf of victims of human rights violations
Asian Club
Focuses on Asian culture and sponsors Chinese New Year Dinner, among other programs. Educates community about customs, food, music, dance., etc., and raises funds by selling Asian products. Produces a presentation for an all-School assembly each winter.
BLSU (Black Latina Student Union)
Serves as a support group to the African-American and Latina population, and helps plan educational and social events. Each year the club hosts forums and chapels and assists in planning Martin Luther King Day, Hispanic Heritage Month and Black History Month.
Jewish Ethel Walker Students
This group shares Jewish traditions with the Walker's community.
Walker's Activities Board (WAB)
Schedules and arranges weekend activities, including dances, films, shopping trips, etc.
GSA (Gay Straight Alliance)
Provides peer support and alliance for lesbian, bisexual and heterosexual students
