Status: Full Time, 12 Months, Exempt
Reports To: Assistant Head for Admission and Enrollment
Start Date: Summer 2025

General Position Description

Walker’s Office of Admission is seeking a dynamic partner to identify and yield incredible students to attend our great school. Since 1911, we have believed that girls deserve, at some point in their lives, to be educated in an environment that is designed just for them. In our next admission hire, we expect to find a motivated, sharp and articulate spokesperson, someone who can compel both students and their parents/guardians to understand the value of a Walker’s education. This person’s primary role is that of an Admission Counselor within the Admission and Enrollment Office. They share responsibility with the Assistant Head for Admission and Enrollment for managing the prospective family pool, including interviews, tours, applicant management, sending school liaison, and committee participation. This job includes admission travel, participation in on and off-campus programs (which includes some evenings and weekends), and other day-to-day duties as assigned. Depending on experience and office needs, this individual may have responsibility for other important office duties: student tour guide oversight; operational support; special program/s liaison (arts, boarding, day, international, middle school, TBD). And, as with all Admission Counselors, they will be assigned specific “territory” for recruitment and enrollment, geographic or other cohort to be determined.

Admission/Recruitment Responsibilities

  • Development of admission “territories” via work with alumnae, parents, consultants, and schools.
  • Cultivation of prospective families through the entire admission cycle: prospect to applicant to enroll (initial contact, interview, tour, application assistance, etc.).
  • Work with Admission team and Marketing and Communications team to develop targeted recruitment plans including customized messaging.
  • Weekend duty team.
  • Possible advising responsibilities.

Competencies

  • Understanding of and ability to articulate the value of independent schools in the context of educational landscape.
  • Expertise in middle and high school education, pedagogy, and adolescent (girl) development.
  • Conversant with student enrollment database platforms (Blackbaud is our current platform) as well as with Google platforms.
  • Creative problem solver.

  • Self-directed.
  • Respectful, discrete, accessible, a learner, flexible.
  • Coaching experience a plus.

Minimum Requirements

  • For Assistant Director, one to two years minimum related experience, minimum Bachelor’s degree.
  • For Associate Director, five or more years of successful experience in independent school recruitment, minimum Bachelor’s degree.
