Full Time Spanish Teacher

The Ethel Walker School seeks a dynamic and innovative full-time Spanish teacher. The successful candidate will have native or near-native fluency in Spanish and the skills to teach all levels of Spanish from introductory to advanced. Bachelor's degree in Spanish language and literature required and Master’s degree preferred.

Skills and traits necessary for this position include:

  • Experience teaching Spanish at the middle and high school level
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A student-centered approach to teaching and learning
  • Ability to create a culturally responsive classroom
  • Willingness to collaborate with colleagues in lesson-planning and curriculum development
  • Ability to teach without a textbook

Responsibilities

  • Teach four sections of Spanish, any level from Middle School through Advanced Topics
  • Attend faculty and department meetings
  • Maintain active communication with students and their parents regarding academic progress
  • Assist and collaborate in the guidance of problem solving for students
  • Meet departmental deadlines and goals
  • Serve as an academic advisor for up to six students
  • Attend required evening events including banquets, concerts and community dinners
  • Participate in assigned weekend team duties
  • Coach or direct two seasons of an extracurricular
  • Exhibit a high degree of flexibility and adaptability
  • Participate in personal and professional development
  • Carry out other duties as assigned
