Arts in the Community

The arts can help create connections and build community. Walker’s students perform and present their art beyond our campus to share it with the community at large.

For instance, the Grapes a cappella group has performed in the KO Wyvern Invitational, at Harriet Beecher Stowe Center, and numerous other venues. Student-designed apparel has been featured in Hartford’s Trashion Fashion Show, student artwork has been exhibited at the Simsbury Public Library and the Art League of New Britain, and Eve Ensler's I am an Emotional Creature has been performed at Hartford’s historic Charter Oak Cultural Center and at Wilbraham & Monson Academy.

Arts community service activities include dance classes for children with special needs, the Empty Bowls Project, and Unified Art with Special Olympics athletes.
