Varsity Soccer

Overview

The Ethel Walker School Soccer Program competes in the Women's Western New England Preparatory School Soccer Association (WWNEPSSA), a division of The New England Prep School Athletic Council (NEPSAC). Walker's is a class "C" division competitor, and plays a challenging schedule in the prestigious Founders League. League competitors include Taft, Miss Porter's, Kingswood Oxford and Kent.

Walker's soccer ended the 2018 campaign with a record of 8-10-2. Final WWNEPPSA season rankings placed Walker's #7 of 13 class C teams, and #22 of 47 WWNEPPSA teams. Walker's soccer has a long tradition, winning the CISAC in 2007 and 2008, and qualifying for the New England Tournament in 2017, 2008, and 2009 as the #1 seed. In addition, individual post-season awards were bestowed upon Walker's players. WWNEPSSA All Star honors were awarded to Maisie Smith '19 and Reagan Kerecz '20. All NEPSWSA Junior All Star game honors went to Reagan Kerecz '20 as did All-NEPSAC Honorable Mention. All Founder's League went to Elise Namnoum '19 and Caroline Smith '19. Walker's 2017 MVP Award went to Reagan Kerecz '20, Most Improved Player went to Julia Luciani '20, and Coaches' Award went to Maisie Smith '19.

Past players have gone on to play internationally, and at the collegiate level. Veronica Garcia '18 represented Puerto Rico this past summer in the Caribbean Football Union U-20 Olympic Qualifying Tournament. Recent players to move on to the college ranks include Ams Gillies '17 (Meredith College), Amber Carter '15 (Pine Manor College), Carrie Macke '13 (Ithaca College), and Ryan Rosenstock '11 (Brandeis College). Walker's team members participate in Premier leagues and play for local clubs such as Dutch Football Academy and FSA, among others.

The Junior Varsity team is an integral part of the program. Players have regular opportunity to enjoy healthy competition, improve their soccer skills, and move up to Varsity. Walker's soccer program continues to build momentum, and is attracting gifted student athletes with a strong desire to learn and excel. Please contact Head Coach Todd D'Alessandro directly for information on the Walker's soccer program.
