Overview

Volleyball players learn to strive for excellence and compete with honor, promoting pride in the Walker's athletic program and the School in the process. Volleyball at Walker's is about playing well and challenging both experienced as well as new players to become better players each day. Walker's varsity volleyball team has secured trips to the New England Tournament in 2011, 2013 and 2014, securing its standing as a premiere program in New England prep school volleyball.

Walker’s volleyball program competes in the Western New England Prep School Association (WNEPSA), a division of the The New England Prep School Athletic Council (NEPSAC). Walker's is a Class "B" division competitor, and also competes in the prestigious Founders League. League competitors include Choate, Taft, Hotchkiss, Loomis, Kingswood Oxford and Miss Porter's.

Past players have gone on to play in collegiate programs including St. Lawrence University, DeSales University, and Johns Hopkins University.

Coaches

William Chan

William Chan comes to Walker's with an unmatched passion for the sport of volleyball including as a coach and player. Most recently, Chan moved from Ontario, Canada back to Connecticut after completing nearly two years as the volleyball community developer at his local YMCA. Prior, Chan served as an assistant volleyball coach in Japan where he worked with athletes at the junior high school level in skill development. While in Japan, he also served for three years as an assistant English teacher in the JET Programme, working in various capacities with over 1,000 students of all ages. Chan is acquainted with several club teams in the area, and regularly competes in tournaments. A graduate of the University of Connecticut, Chan continued his education at Doshisha Business School in Kyoto, Japan where he earned his MBA and passed the CFA Level I.
