Back to School Checklist

Please find below everything you need to get ready for your year at Walker’s!

Note: All items are required for all students unless otherwise noted. New families may also find and complete the New Student-specific tasks in their Onboarding Portal in Veracross.

IT Office

• New Students: Set up your Walker’s email account (see email for instructions).
• New Students: Make sure you upload a photo for your ID.

Academics

• New Students: Send the Transcript Release Form to your current school after your school year concludes.
• New Students: Complete the Upper School Math and Language Placement Test(s).
• Finish your summer reading, including one of the all-school reads.
• Review the Student Technology Requirements.
• View your class schedule and purchase books from our online bookstore or your preferred vendor (schedules and book lists available the week of August 8).
• Middle School Students: Order required school supplies.

Athletics

• New Students: Sign up for co-curriculars: Middle School | Upper School
• If you are interested in attending preseason, fill out the Preseason Registration Form.
• Review the list of required items for sports, dance, and riding. All new students will need to take a required swim test.
• If you will be boarding a horse on campus, fill out the Horse Boarding Questionnaire.

Health Center & Business Office

• All Families: Complete your Magnus Health Forms.
  • New Families: Log in through Veracross.
  • Returning Families: Use your access to Magnus from last year. If you have forgotten your login information, please reach out to helpdesk@ethelwalker.org for assistance.
• Fill out the electronic Business Office Forms (if applicable): Diddle’s Depot (School Store) and Music Instruction.
• Day Students: Fill out the Bus Transportation Form if transportation is needed to campus.

Dean of Students Office

• All Families: Fill out the Campus Arrival Form.
• All Boarders: Local Guardian Designation Form if you reside more than 300 miles from campus.
• All Upper School Students and Middle School Boarders: Update your permissions for the 2022-2023 school year.
• Fill out the 2022-2023 Student Activities Waiver.
• Junior and Senior Day Students who wish to drive themselves to campus may request a parking space and must see the Dean of Students during orientation to receive a parking form.
• Senior Day Students: Parents of seniors who would like to give their student permission to drive themselves off campus during free blocks should complete the Senior Day Student Driving Permission Form.
• Review the 2022-2023 dress code and purchase a gray skirt or pants and a white shirt with school seal for required Vespers dress.
• Review the Boarding Student Packing List to see what you need to bring to school.
• Read The Walker Book in preparation for your year on campus (added 8/25/22)!
