“My name is Beatrice and I am a rising junior at Walker’s! I am so excited to be a Cicerone for this upcoming year and cannot wait to show you around campus – whether in person or through a virtual tour. As a student who toured Walker’s during the pandemic, having Cicerones who were current students show me around campus helped me feel welcomed and informed about the school even though I was off-campus.”

What is your favorite class, and why?

My favorite classes by far have been Biology and Chemistry. Walker’s gives you so many different opportunities to learn about the different disciplines in the Science Department, which fueled my love for the subject. Not only does Walker’s offer the basic science courses (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), but there are also many electives such as Astronomy, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Equine Science, Biochemistry, and more.

What advice would you give an incoming Walker’s student?

Join clubs! I seriously think this is one of the easiest ways to meet and become friends with kids all around campus. Although it was a bit hard to step out of my comfort zone, joining clubs helped me talk to and meet students who were in different grades and participated in different sports. I met some of my closest friends from Sustainability Club just by going to the first meeting at the beginning of the school year!

How do you feel you have grown since your first day at Walker’s?

Being a student at Walker’s has helped my confidence grow exponentially. Not only has it grown academically and in the classroom, but also as a person. By having the support and reassurance of our school community, I don’t feel uncomfortable or insecure about myself.
