“With my mother teaching at Walker’s, I have always been familiar with the campus and traditions. I was so excited to enter Walker’s in the sixth grade and fully become a member of the community that I grew up with. When I was in the Middle School, I always wanted to be a Cicerone and be able to show others what I loved so much about Walker’s. Now that I am in the Upper School, I am even more excited to be a Cicerone and to continue to grow as a member of the school community.”


What is your favorite class, and why?

My favorite class is probably English or History. I love having discussions, getting into debates, and diving deep into texts. I love writing, finding evidence, and developing my arguments. At Walker’s, I am given space to do all of these things.

What advice would you give an incoming Walker’s student?

Talk to everybody. Students, teachers, staff. Everybody. One of my favorite things about Walker’s is walking through the halls during passing time and waving to my friends or teachers. Moments like those really make me feel like I belong.

What do you think is the biggest benefit of attending Walker’s?

The biggest benefit I have experienced attending Walker’s is the small class sizes. I get to know my teachers and peers so much more than I would if the classes were bigger. I feel like teachers truly come to understand the strengths and struggles of individual students, and it makes all the difference in creating a positive learning environment.

How do you feel you have grown (academically, emotionally, mentally) since your first day at Walker’s?

Academically, Walker’s has helped me to become more confident in the classroom. I have become an active participant in many of my classes because I feel less afraid to speak up. I don’t have to worry about being ridiculed for saying the wrong thing. This academic growth has helped me mentally and emotionally through my increased self-confidence outside of class and the support I receive from friends and teachers.
