Emiliana earned a BA in Communications with a concentration in Journalism from Andrés Bello Catholic University in Caracas, Venezuela, an Ed from Harvard University with a concentration in Economics of Education, and an MPP from Duke University. She currently serves as professor of practice at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. A leading expert on education in developing countries, Emiliana has written extensively on issues affecting education systems in Latin America and the Caribbean and other developing regions. Before joining the faculty at Harvard, Emiliana served as Senior Fellow and Co-Director of the Center for Universal Education at the Brookings Institution, Chief of the Education Division at the Inter-American Development Bank, and at the World Bank in Washington, DC, where she held various positions in the Human Development Network.
