“Hello, I’m Holiday! I will be a senior at Walker’s for the 21-22 school year and I entered Walker’s as a freshman. I enjoy being a Cicerone so much and I believe it’s such an important role because of how much insight we offer prospective students and families. Each and every Cicerone has had a different experience at Walker’s which provides visiting families with a really dimensional look into our community. I hope to show prospective students and families just how amazing my experience at Walker’s has been and the opportunities it has offered me. “

What is a unique experience you’ve had at Walker’s that you didn’t think you’d be involved in when arriving at Walker’s?

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) is a program I did not think I would be involved in when I arrived at Walker’s. I am really glad that I am VITA-certified because learning to do tax returns is such a valuable tool to have in your life. I think this is a really cool program for Walker’s to offer because being able to complete multiple tax returns at 16/17 years old is really awesome and I am glad I took part in this program.

What is your favorite part of your typical day at Walker’s? What do you look forward to every day?

I look forward to being around the Walker’s community every day. Whether you are in the Centennial Center during a free block, Abra’s during lunch, or even the hallways in between classes, you will always hear somebody laughing. I just look forward to being around so many friendly faces and seeing my friends whenever we have a free moment. It really makes all the difference in my day.

What do you think is the biggest benefit of attending Walker’s?

I think the biggest benefit of attending Walker’s is the all-girls experience. Growing up in the co-ed school system was great, but it wasn’t until I came to Walker’s that I realized how much easier it is to grow as a student in an all-girls environment. At Walker’s, I have never been afraid to stand up in front of any group of the community and say what I needed to say, while in my previous schools I wouldn’t even raise my hand. We don’t have to share the pool, or the courts, or the fields with “the boys’ team.” I think the biggest benefit is just being in an empowering environment where our academics, athletics, and co-corriculars don’t have to compete with anyone else’s.
