“Hello! My name is Kipley. I came to Walker’s as a freshman boarder from northern Massachusetts. The experience at a girls school has been one of the greatest blessings I could receive as a girl growing up in an ever-changing and ever-progressing society. Walker’s has helped me develop my voice and give me opportunities to represent myself and my passions inside the classroom with the impressive plethora of class offerings, as well as endless chances to use my voice outside of the classroom. My goal is to show prospective students the sisterhood they can find at Walker’s and how the Walker’s experience is a unique one you can only get at 230 Bushy Hill Road.”

What is your favorite class and why?

My favorite class I have taken at Walker’s was my 11th grade English elective, Advanced Feminist Rhetoric Literature. It was a fascinating course with a teacher who was extremely passionate about the subject, and it introduced me to ways in which I can use my knowledge learned through literature to develop my social and rhetorical lens.

What is a unique experience you’ve had at Walker’s that you didn’t think you’d be involved in when arriving at Walker’s?

A unique experience I’ve had at Walker’s is getting to see faculty members in a new light. Whether it’s going out for ice cream with my advisory or getting help with math in my PJs, my relationships with the faculty on campus are very special to me and I was pleasantly surprised by how close they have become.

What is your favorite part of your typical day at Walker’s? What do you look forward to every day?

My favorite part of my day at Walker’s is Morning Meeting because I get to see my peers share what they’re passionate about in front of the entire school. It’s a time to see everyone’s smiling faces all at once.

What is your favorite part about being a boarder?

My favorite part of being a boarder is getting to live with my best friends! You become like sisters with your dormmates and there’s always someone to hang out with, watch movies with, or eat snacks in the common room with so you never feel alone.

What advice would you give to an incoming Walker’s student?

My advice to an incoming Walker’s student is never be afraid to take up space. Be loud, be authentically yourself, and shine on even when it feels difficult. There is always a space for you here, so don’t be afraid to find it.

What do you think is the biggest benefit of attending school at Walker’s?

A community that will always have your back.

How do you feel you have grown (academically, emotionally, mentally) since your first day at Walker’s?

I have grown by learning how to work as a team with your teachers, dorm faculty, and students. The more you communicate, the easier it is to receive what you need.

How do you think Walker’s has prepared you for your future?

Walker’s has shown me that being myself is the best way to achieve my dreams and to never be afraid to self-advocate.

What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?

Ride my horse, Muze!
