“My name is Malaika and I am a sophomore at Walker’s. I came to Walker’s as a ninth grader. Being a Cicerone is so important because it helps girls who are applying to Walker’s and those who are ready to join in the fall make decisions that are best for them and it gives them extra support! I can’t wait to show new families the great community here at Walker’s.”

What is a unique experience you’ve had at Walker’s that you didn’t think you’d be involved in when arriving at Walker’s?

Before coming to Walker’s, I was never super interested in joining any type of leadership program or becoming a leader in my school community. In October, I found myself running for class administrator for my grade. It was definitely something that I considered to be out of my comfort zone, but after a few weeks at Walker’s, I found myself very interested in it.

What is your favorite part of your typical day at Walker’s? What do you look forward to every day?

I really look forward to eating and relaxing with friends during our free time before study hall. It’s really nice to sit down, talk, and laugh with friends after a long day of sports and academics. It’s great to make new friends on campus during this time and get to know people.

What do you think is the biggest benefit of attending Walker’s?

The biggest benefit is definitely the kind and close community on campus. It is amazing how kind everyone is, including faculty, coaches, and students. It definitely makes campus feel like a second home, especially as a boarder.
