The Varsity Soccer Team got off to a rousing start with a 7-2 victory over MacDuffie in the first game of the 2021 Soccer Season. Lauren Krupnikoff ’23 started out the scoring six minutes into the first half with a splendidly placed shot after a strong run up the middle. Following that three other players scored two goals each; Allie Dowd ’23, Lucie Martinelli ’27, and Allison Hayes ’25. The midfield was ably led by Sarah Shaw ’23 and Lily Santoro ’22, both of whom were instrumental in controlling the center of the field. The defense was ably led by center backs Alex O’Meara ’23 and Martha O’Donnell ’23. Playing at outside backs were newcomers Marlo Meador ’25 and Sophie Martinelli ’25. Ably filling in at keeper was another new member of the team, Jenna Hamel ’25. She was credited with five saves over the course of the game. Overall, it was a fine way to open the season and the team is looking forward to game two, a home game against Greens Farms on Saturday.
