vs. Marianapolis Preparatory School
May 10, 2017 @ 3:00 pm
Sara Fallon ’19 had an RBI single in the bottom of the 8th inning to give Ethel Walker a 3-2 win over a tough Marianapolis Prep team on Wednesday afternoon. After Marianapolis scored 2 runs in the top of the 7th, and both teams went scoreless in their next at-bats, Reagan Kerecz ’20 started a Walker’s rally with a leadoff single in the top of the 8th. Liz Helmin ’19 followed with a bunt single, and Jenna Murray ’20 continued the rally with a single of her own. With the bases loaded and 0 out, Fallon hit a hard ground ball between the third baseman and shortstop to drive home Kerecz with the winning run. Walker’s jumped to a 2-0 lead by the 5th inning. Helmin had two 2-out RBI singles, one each in the 3rd and 5th innings. Sydney Longley ’17 did the rest, pitching another great game and powering through 6 strong innings. In the 7th, however, the Marianapolis bats came alive and they were able to put two runs across. Longley settled down, however, and pitched out of a jam in the 7th inning and retired Marianapolis easily in the top of the 8th to put Ethel Walker in position for the win. Walker’s moves to 7-3 on the season and will host Founders League opponent Loomis-Chaffee on Friday afternoon.
