Walker’s placed 6 of 8 schools in The Founders League Championship on February 29, defeating Kingswood Oxford and Kent. Walker’s started out strong in the medley relay, with Charlotte F. ’25, Lucia M. ’25, Daphne P. ’21, and Izzy O. ’20 setting a new school record. Following this relay, Asha H. ’22 would start her strong meet with a best time in the first heat of the 200 freestyle. The team went on to compile 15 more personal best times on the season. In the second heat of the 200 free, Alexia G. ‘23 finished with a 2.5 second time drop and Charlotte also took off .5 from her PR. In the final heat of the event, Daphne raced to a 2:00.01, good for third place and second all-time at Walker’s. In the 50 freestyle, lots of best times were recorded, including Hayley B. ’20 and Cristina C., both over a second off their best times. Captain Izzy dropped over a half second winning the 6th heat in the event. Lucia and Ana ’22 raced consistent swims.

Immediately following the break, Allison W. ’22 raced to a best time in the 100 fly. Lucy O. and Alexia each swam a strong 100 freestyle and significant time drops came from teammates Izzy, Molly T. ’25, and Hayley. Ana again performed well in the 100, dropping .33 in her swim.

Asha H. ’22 touched at a season goal, breaking 7:00 in the 500. Her time of 6:56.68 was a near 4-second drop from earlier this month. Daphne again medaled in her next individual event, placing 2nd for Walker’s.

Following the second break, Walker’s A 200 freestyle earned 6th place points with their 1:52.24. Charlotte finished Top 16 in her 100 backstroke with Natalie S. ’23 nearing her best time in the event. For her final time racing the event in her high school career, Captain Jane finished with a strong breaststroke, dropping nearly 1.5 seconds off of her previous best time, set last season at New England’s. In the final heat of the event, Lucia finished at 1:14.66, good for 11th overall and a season best.

Walker’s will head to Cornerstone in West Hartford next Saturday for the Division III New Englands, where a dozen teams will be competing among schools with similar school size.
