Coach Darrell Carrington has taught at Walker’s for 39 years and has coached over 25 other teams including varsity soccer, basketball, and softball. His ‘86 and ‘88 softball teams and his ‘13 golf team won Founders League championships. He is a former collegiate and professional athlete and an experienced multi-sport official. Coach Carrington is a math teacher, chair of the Math Department, and serves as an Upper School advisor.

What was it about The Ethel Walker School that made you want to work here?

The setting.

What is your favorite part of the subject(s) you teach now?

Challenging the girls and making them think.

What is your favorite Walker’s tradition?

Senior Picture on the Chapel Steps on Graduation Day.

Why did you want to go into teaching?

I love kids and teaching would give me the opportunity to stay involved in athletics (through coaching) which had always been a big part of my life.

What other roles do you hold on campus?

Mathematics Department Chair, Varsity Golf Coach

What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?

Any vigorous outdoor activity —– hike, bike, rollerblade, kayak, snowshoe.

What is the most rewarding part about working at Walker’s?

The girls let me be me.
