Jade comes to Walker’s from Skidmore College where she has served as the assistant director of admissions for three years. In addition to representing Skidmore at school visits and college fairs in the southwest and mid-Atlantic, Jade has served on several admission committees, including the Filene music scholarship, the London experience program, diversity, and athletics. Her assigned application reading load included The Ethel Walker School and she was drawn to our school, in part, because of the academic strength and personal qualities she saw in our applicants.
I was drawn to The Ethel Walker School for the opportunity to wear multiple hats–a college counselor, advisor, coach, dorm parent. The sense of community at Ethel Walker coupled with the driven, kind, and spirited students is something that makes this place so special. The Ethel Walker School living and learning culture was appealing to me.
My favorite subject in high school was language class, particularly Spanish. I was and still am fascinated with the complexities involved in learning a new language and culture. Spanish class challenged me to step outside my comfort zone as a classroom participant, and it fostered a passion I never knew I had.
In my free time, I love to exercise! As a former college athlete, I made exercising a priority in order to clear my head and participate in something I love, whether that be group fitness classes, field hockey pick-up games, yoga, running, cycling, or walking my dog, Halo. I think it is important to incorporate a bit of free time in a day to move around a little and get a quick sweat in.
