2019 Varsity Soccer Season Recap

Four exceptional varsity soccer captains — Reagan Kerecz '20, Alaina Vermilya '20, Ava Strohmeyer '21, and Lizzy Strapp '21 — led the team in the 2019 season that was one for the record books. The season ended with a 14-4-2 regular game record with a total of 67 goals scored, and it saw its starting keeper play in her 100th game. The team earned the #6 seed in the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class C Tournament this year, making it the second time in the last three seasons varsity soccer has made post-season play.

The season kicked off with a 5-2 road win over McDuffie School and it was the start of forward Alaina Vermilya's and midfielder Olivia Webster's scoring spree that would see both becoming two of New England's top goal scorers. The first five games saw the team accumulate 22 goals while only allowing 3.

Senior Reagan Kerecz '20 played every minute of every game in all five seasons she played varsity at Walker's, accumulating 100 career starts. Reagan played a total of 8,000 minutes in goal for the Wildcats and earned a total of 33 career shutouts.

Olivia led the team in total points this year with 26 goals and 19 assists and Alaina added 20 goals and 15 assists to the record. The team totalled 67 goals on the season, the most in the school's past five seasons.

The conclusion of the 2019 season is a time to bid a fond farewell to seniors including Izzy O'Donnell '20, Brooke DeLorey '20, Alaina Vermilya '20, and Reagan Kerecz '20.
