Allison Hughes - Flute Lessons

Award-winning flutist Allison Hughes enjoys a diverse and exciting career of solo, chamber, and orchestral performances. She gave her Carnegie Hall debut in January 2016 as a founding member of Duo Alterity. Allison is currently Principal Flutist of the Hartford Independent Chamber Orchestra. Passionate about the flute as a solo instrument, she performed the Liebermann Flute Concerto with the Hartt Orchestra. With Duo Alterity Allison was an Artist-in-Residence for the 2018 and 2019 seasons of Connecticut Summerfest Contemporary Music Festival, and has given performances at notable venues including the DiMenna Center for Classical Music, The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts, and the Governor's Mansion in Hartford, Connecticut. Allison has performed extensively in masterclasses for world renowned musicians including Emmanuel Pahud, the Imani Winds, the Lions Gate Trio, Amy Porter, Judith Mendenhall, Denis Azabagic, Andrew York, Oscar Ghiglia, and Antigoni Goni. She holds Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Flute Performance from The Hartt School, where she studied with internationally acclaimed flutist Janet Arms. While at Hartt, Allison received a full scholarship as a member of the Performance 20/20 Honors Chamber Ensemble, and taught a technique class for flute performance majors. She loves sharing her passion for music and life with students, collaborators, and audiences alike.

Kevin Huhn - Base Lessons

Kevin Huhn is a teacher and performer living in Connecticut. He currently serves as both assistant principal bass of the Connecticut Virtuosi Orchestra and the Norwalk Symphony. He toured Europe as a member of the 2018 Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra, performing in the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, Paris Philharmonie, and Berlin Philharmonie. Kevin has served as principal bass for the Music at Penn's Woods orchestra festival since 2014 and has performed with the Vermont Mozart Festival and the Next Festival for Emerging Artists. Kevin maintains a private studio as well as teaching at the Hartt Community Division and The Ethel Walker school.


Jaclyn Jones - Guitar Lessons

Jaclyn is a compassionate teacher who has over 10 years of professional experience. She was a featured guest teacher running a Technique Workshop at the Connecticut Guitar Society's Guitar Day, founded the Grace Academy Guitar Department in Hartford, and taught at Soundcrossing Studio, the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, and Music & Arts. Ms. Jones received teacher training in the Suzuki Guitar Method and currently teaches at The Ethel Walker School, Martocchio Music, the Community School of the Arts, and privately throughout the Hartford area.

Jaclyn earned her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Hartt School of Music and has been performing solo and chamber concerts for over ten years. She played for the NJ Guitar & Mandolin Society, Connecticut Guitar Society, and on a La Bella Strings sponsored concert series and was a guest artist on WPAA-TV's Music with Purpose show. Ms. Jones has played at notable venues such as the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, the Buttonwood Tree Performing Arts & Cultural Center, the Eric Carle Museum, and the Augusta Curtis Cultural Arts Center. She is a member of the Luca Duo and actively performs with award winning mezzo soprano Meng-Chieh Hsieh. Lydia McClain - Voice Lessons

Lydia McClain has taught private voice lessons at Walker's for four years. Lydia also maintains a thriving private voice and piano studio out of her home in Simsbury. Her students are often cast in leading roles in their high school theater productions, Regional and All-State Chorus, and attend college for musical theater, vocal performance, and music education. Lydia also facilitates breathwork and guided meditation, specializing in stress-management for adolescents. She mentors many of her students to succeed both on and off stage and is vested in empowering her students with the tools to joyfully and confidently express themselves through music. Lydia has performed throughout New England, specializing in contemporary classical and sacred music. She received her B.M. in vocal performance from The Hartt School of Music and her Masters in vocal performance from Florida State University and is delighted to return to Walker's for another year of music!


Perry Roth - Saxophone and Clarinet Lessons

Saxophonist and clarinetist Perry Roth is an accomplished solo artist, chamber musician and educator. Roth holds the tenor saxophone chair in the Barkada Quartet, which he joined in the spring of 2017. As an educator, Roth is on faculty at The Hartt School Community Division at The University of Hartford where he teaches a full studio of pre-college, college and adult students. In the summers, he teaches at the Yale School of Music, Morse Summer Music Academy and for the prestigious Wando High School (SC) band program. Roth has performed in the Brevard Music Center summer festival, and was awarded fellowships at both New Music on the Point in 2014 and the Yale School of Music, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, New Music Workshop in 2018. Currently a doctoral candidate at The Hartt School, Roth earned a Master of Music degree from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor of Music Education and a Performer's Certificate from the University of South Carolina. Dongbin Shin - Violin Lessons

Winner of the 2011 Central Washington University Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, Dongbin has performed the Dvorak Violin Concerto with the CWU Symphony Orchestra in 2012. Currently active as a chamber music, orchestral, and solo performer, he has previously served as the concertmaster at The Hartt Symphony Orchestra and the Waterbury Chorale. Dongbin had been appointed as the violin technique class instructor as a graduate teaching assistant at The Hartt School in 2012. Dongbin holds a Master of Music degree and a Graduate Professional Diploma in violin performance.

Rebecca Sjogren - Cello Lessons

Rebecca is the cello teacher here at Walker's. She has taught violin, viola, and cello for over thirty years in both Private and Public Schools in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Florida. Her primary instrument is Cello. She uses a wide variety of methods, styles, and literature and welcomes anyone to take lessons whether you are a beginner, advanced, or anywhere in between.

Marguerita Smith - Piano Lessons

Marguerita Oundjian Smith began her studies in London, continued in Paris, and later graduated from the Juilliard School in New York with her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees. Her teachers included Jacob Lateiner, Yvonne Lefebure and Peter Wallfisch. Winner of the Debussy Competition in St. Germain-en-Laye and the Khatchaturian Competition in New York, she has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Europe and the United States. She currently maintains a private teaching studio while also teaching and accompanying at Walker's.

Jon Stoltzfus - Percussion Lessons

Jon Stoltzfus is a graduate of Berklee College of Music with a degree in music business and drumset performance. He has toured with Grammy award-winning guitarist Albert Lee and continues to manage and tour with his original project, Atlas Gray. In addition to extensive touring, Jon has been a respected teacher in the greater Hartford area and beyond for 10 years and continues to teach drumset and percussion extensively. Jon's teaching style welcomes every skill level and allows for fun yet productive lessons by adapting to each student's goals and learning style. Jon offers drumset training in most styles (rock, funk, R&B, etc.) in addition to music theory, music business/management, and much more.
