On Saturday, February 24, Walker's equestrian team traveled to Oak Meadow Farm in East Windsor to compete against 13 other teams in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) Zone 1 Region 8 Semi-Finals. All team members rode very well against intense competition, earning the high school team 39 points and the title of Regional Champion.
Renowned trainers Linda Langmeier and alumna Joanna "Jo" Seaver '99 have been appointed to lead Walker's preeminent Equestrian Program, bringing their world-class training to prepare team members for the national stage and to welcome even the newest riders to the program.
On Wednesday, December 20, members of the Walker's community gathered at the site of the new paddocks for a brief ribbon cutting ceremony.
On October 14, Walker's hosted a home Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) horse show. The Upper School team was champion with a total of 23 points out of six teams, and the Middle School team was reserve champion in the middle school division.
It has been a busy summer for our equestrians! Hooray Sunray to Hope Cushman '18, who was champion in the 15-17 Equitation Division and 5th in the USEF Medal Class at HITS Saugerties, and to Becky Morris '19, who was circuit champion for 15-17 Equitation at the Vermont Summer Festival Horse Show.
Congratulations to Walker's equestrian Becky Morris '19, who has excelled in her classes at the six-week Vermont Summer Festival Horse Show in East Dorset, Vermont. Last week, she was champion in the 15-17 equitation and won all three of her classes.
On Saturday, March 4, Walker's equestrian team competed in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) Regionals, held at Terry Allen Farms in Terryville.
