Our tennis program is focused on individual growth and resilience. We aim to instill in our players a willingness to learn from mistakes and to accept challenges. We see tennis as a way to learn the dedication, mental strength, focus, and confidence that are essential for success both on and off the court.
Walker’s tennis program competes in Division 3 of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC). Walker’s is also a member school in the prestigious Founders League. League competitors include Choate, Taft, Hotchkiss, Loomis, Westminster, Kent, Kingswood Oxford, and Miss Porter’s.
April 3, 2019: In the first match of the 2019, Walker’s brought home a win of 5-2 vs. Miss Hall’s School. Individual match winners included Gautami Melekote ’22 and Dani Ramirez ’19, and doubles match winners included Alice Zhao ’19 and Tracy Chen ’20, Tracy Chen ’20 and Jane Li ’20, and Sabrina Gries ’21 and Daisy Zhang ’21.

The 2019 Varsity Tennis team welcomed six new players to the roster having graduated eight players from the 2018 team. Captained by second-year captain, Daniela Ramirez ’19, a four-year member of the team, and first-year captains Tracy Chen ’20 and Sisi Feng ’20, the team fought to a 2-8 season record, playing a number of difficult opponents. The 2020 team will look to build on last season’s results with several returning members, many of whom gained valuable experience in their first year at the varsity level, including Gautami Melekote ’22, who fought to a 5-4 record last year and will be the 2020 season’s #1 singles player.
