Gender Stereotypes in the Media
Thursday, October 10, 2019
6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
What if Cinderella wore sneakers while running her own business?
Through an exploration of Disney films, girls entering grades 6-8 and their parents will explore gender stereotypes and the limits they place on identity development. You will acquire the language and resources to understand the messages girls receive about gender identity through the media. The workshop will provide tools to counteract those messages and offer practical ways to face the stereotypes head on.
This workshop is presented by Walker’s Director of Social Justice and Inclusion Elisa Del Valle Cardona. A light dinner will be provided.
