Alumnae Win IHSA National Championship

Walker’s alumnae Sheriden Beard ’14 and Hannah Tuckner ’14 won the 2018 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Championship on the Skidmore College Varsity Riding Team, competing with the top 16 teams in the country.

Both women both rode as team point riders for Skidmore, contributing to the team’s victory at the end of the week. In addition, Sheriden competed in the Team Novice Over Fences and Flat classes and placed first and sixth respectively, and Hannah competed in Team Open on the Flat and was tenth. Hannah also competed in the prestigious Cacchione Cup, which she qualified for by being the top rider (earning the most points throughout the season) in her region and was within the top three riders in her Zone. Hannah ended up third out of the 24 riders that qualified for the class, which is an incredible accomplishment.

Winning this year’s National Championship made the Skidmore Riding Team not only the most successful team at Skidmore College, but also the all-time most decorated collegiate riding team, with a total of eight National titles.

Congratulations!
