Eight Athletes Named NEPSAC All-League

April 10, 2020

It was a successful winter for our athletes as several players were recognized as All-League competitors within the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) and Founders League.

Skiing

Walker’s Anneliese Sonju ’21 was named All-NEPSAC in skiing for the third year in a row. Teammate Alex Faucher ’23 joined her in her first year on the team. Anneliese finished first in the Giant Slalom and second in the Slalom, winning the second run. Alex Faucher ’23 finished eighth in the Giant Slalom in her first time competing in the NEPSAC championship.

Basketball

The varsity team had two basketball players represent Walker’s as NEPSAC All-League: Hannah Iwaszkiewicz ’20 and Nora Griffiths ’21. Hannah, along with classmate Jelly Frigo ‘20, were also named to Founders All-Stars. Walker’s basketball qualified for post-season play in the NEPSAC tournament for the second year in a row and fifth in 10 years.

Swimming

Swimming placed three girls on the All-NEPSAC list for their performances at the NEPSAC Division III championship meet held in early March, where the team was named Finalists. The top 20 athletes per individual event in all of NEPSAC, and at minimum three per division, are named All-NEPSAC. Walker’s Daphne Peterson ’21 qualified as All-NEPSAC for two events: the 200 freestyle and the 500, where she placed first in both at the DIII meet. Charlotte Furia ’25 finished third in the 100 backstroke with a personal best time and classmate Lucia Morales ’25 finished third in the 100 breaststroke with a season best time.
