This Saturday marked our first JV match of the season. Despite gaps in our ladder, Walker’s JV Squash celebrated a 7-0 victory over Kingswood Oxford. Even though they were tired from previous matches as varsity’s number six and seven, Captains Lexi Donshik ’24 and San De Min ’22 both secured a 3-0 win in each of their games. Number three, Elizabeth Cao ’22, and number four, Emerson Embrey ’23, also secured 3-0 wins, over Kingwood. Number five, Sophie Martinelli ’25, came back from her varsity exhibition match fired up and ready to win, which she did in three games to zero. Yuyan Chen ’24 also played formidably at number six, winning all three of her games in with her opponent scoring 4 points or fewer in each game. The most nail-biting match was played between Amy Yu, Walker’s number seven, and KO’s number 2. Despite losing her first game 10-12, Amy pushed herself physically and mentally, used her left-handed swing to her advantage, and won her next three games, resulting in a 4-1 win. Juliet Legassa, also played an opponent above her seat, as the exhibition match against KO’s number four, and walked away from her first match with a 3-0 win. Overall, our first match of the season was a great success and our players are looking forward to future matches this season.
