Game Summary
On Wednesday afternoon, The Ethel Walker School’s varsity soccer team entered the NEPSAC tournament for the third consecutive year. In their first year jumping up to Class B, the Wildcats earned the #2 seed and hosted Brooks School in opening round action. The visitors scored two early goals and were able to keep Walker’s at bay as Brooks earned a spot in the semifinals with a 6-0 victory.
In the opening half, Walker’s was outshot 9-5 as both goalkeepers made three saves. Walker’s hit the post and created a couple of other chances, but Brooks took advantage of loose balls and finished their opportunities to take a three-goal lead into halftime.
The hosts started the second half on the front foot, but their best opportunity was a shot into the top corner that was saved comfortably. In a two-minute span, Brooks scored back-to-back to make it 5-0 with just under 25 minutes remaining.
For Walker’s, they finished the season with an overall record of 12-6 for one of the strongest campaigns in program history while capturing the WWNEPSSA Class B title.
