Walker’s had a great start to the season in the meet against Indian Mountain School. Walker’s won the female meet while falling short 6 points when scored co-ed. Walker’s has never hosted IMS prior, and it was a great opportunity to race our younger and newer-to-swimming athletes. There were several Wildcats who had their first-ever races: congratulations to all of them for their bravery and ‘diving in’! Special congratulations to Emma, Emily, Ten, Ayesha, and Sally! Cecilia Li ‘25 and Tapiwa Cronin ‘22 had impressive 200 freestyles, with Cecilia Li sweeping the heat and Tapiwa finishing as the second place female in her first Walker’s race! Kylie Donaldson ‘23 came in first in the 200 IM and Molly Thacker ‘24 had a smooth swim. Natalie Stewart and Lucia Morales touched 1-2 in the 50 freestyle, Natalie earning a PR by about .5! Co-captain Allison Wall ‘22 was joined by new teammates, Catalina Dotson ‘27 and Ava DeSio ‘25, who all raced hard in the 100 butterfly. Elliot Glynn ‘22 and Liyan Du ‘23 impressed in the 500 freestyle as the first second-place female finishers, and Walker’s swept the 100 backstroke with great swims by Kylie Donaldson and Cecilia Li. Molly Thacker and Lena Miller ‘28 earned points with their first 100 breaststroke of the season and the Walker’s 400 freestyle combination took with the win in the final event of the meet.
Walker’s will travel to Westminster for their first weekend meet of the season on Saturday, December 11th against a handful of other schools for the annual Kingswood-Oxford holiday invitational.
