Game Summary

On Wednesday afternoon, The Ethel Walker School’s varsity soccer team hosted Cushing Academy in a NEPSAC Class B contest. After an early surge in the game resulted in zero goals, Walker’s finally got on the board just six minutes before halftime. In the second half, it took just 32 seconds to find the back of the net and then the Wildcats never looked back as the hosts cruised to a 6-1 victory on the day.

Stella-Rose Lecompte ’27 opened the scoring in the 34th minute when she received a pass through the lines on the left side of the field. Sawyar Fleming ’28 slipped in the pass and Lecompte ripped a shot with her left foot inside the near post. For Walker’s, that was their ninth shot of the half forcing Cushing’s goalie into seven first-half saves.

After the break, Lecompte would score her ninth goal of the season when she broke down the right sideline and split two defenders on the dribble. Once again, she found an opening at the near post and buried it into the back of the net. Melia Belden ’27 recorded the assist on the goal after winning a tackle near the midfield line and finding Lecompte quickly.

Fleming would make it 3-0 about seven minutes later when Esther Asamoah ’28 recorded her first assist of the day. The two would switch roles less than six minutes later to put the home team ahead by four goals as Asamoah found the back of the net after a long run.

In the 61st minute, Caroline Hayes ’27 broke out of the back and made a run into the offensive third. She played a tidy pass into the path of Jazmine Restituyo ’27 who scored her third goal of the season. After Cushing put one on the scoreboard, Asamoah recorded another assist as Bayliegh T. ’31 scored her first goal for Walker’s to finish the scoring on the day.

Walker’s is now 4-4-1 on the season and will host Wilbraham & Monson on Saturday. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00.
