Game Summary
Ethel Walker’s varsity soccer team hosted Kent on Saturday afternoon for a Founder’s League contest. The home side won their second game in a row with a solid 8-1 victory on the day. After a strong first half, Walker’s was ahead 3-1 at halftime, and they found their true momentum after the break when they scored twice in the first five minutes to put the game out of reach.
In the third minute of the game, Gigi Peña ’26 pressured Kent’s left back and stole the ball before finding Ayden Riendeau ’26 near the top of the six-yard line. Riendeau calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net with her second touch to give the hosts the early lead. Walker’s doubled their lead just over 20 minutes later when Jani Weber ’26 scored her first of the day on an assist from Allison Hayes ’25. Weber made it 3-0 seven minutes later when the Wildcats combined for 10 passes in a row over a span of 35 seconds. Kayla Whalen ’25, Emily Sanchez ’26, Maddie Hemmerich ’27, Amelia Forde ’28, Hayes, Riendeau and Weber were all part of the buildup with Riendeau recording the final pass for the assist and Weber finishing off the classy move.
