Game Summary
On Saturday afternoon, The Ethel Walker School varsity soccer team hosted local rival Miss Porter’s in a WWNEPSSA contest. The home side went down early but responded to tie it as the teams entered halftime all square. Porter’s came out though with a strong second half and came away with a 5-1 victory.
In the 13th minutes, the visitors scored first when they pounced on a rebound to take a 1-0 lead. Sophie Martinelli ’25 knotted the game at one apiece four minutes later on an unassisted effort. She stole the ball near the top of the box and ripped a shot under the crossbar for her team-leading seventh goal of the season. At the half, Porter’s held a 9-1 advantage in shots and Jenna Hamel ’25 made three saves. She would finish with eight on the day.
In the second half, the visitors scored four goals in the opening 25 minutes to earn the 5-1 win. Walker’s will host Taft on Saturday, November 5 in their next contest. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
