vs. The Taft School

Game Summary

Walker’s hosted Founders League opponent Taft on Saturday afternoon and used strong defense and timely hitting to earn an 8-4 win. Taft scored one in the top of the first before an RBI triple by Kara Dabkowski and an RBI single by Emily Sanchez gave Walker’s the 2-1 lead. That stayed the score until Walker’s scored 4 in the bottom of the 4th to take a 5-1 lead. A leadoff double by Sanchez put the wheels in motion, as Walker’s was able to get down bunts and run the bases successfully to take the 4 run lead. After Taft got a run back to bring the margin to 3, Walker’s used a big RBI single by Sanchez to make the lead 6-2, and then in the bottom of the 6th Ayden Riendeau connected on a 2-out, 2-run single to make the score 8-2. Taft scored 2 in the top of the 7th, but Walker’s was able to limit the damage. Stella Wry played great defense at second base all day, and Ayden Riendeau controlled things on the mound.
