Junior Advances to Poetry Out Loud Regionals

Angie Jean ’23 will represent Walker’s at the Connecticut Poetry Out Loud Regionals in February 2022.

Angie received the most community votes following her performance of Renée Watson’s “This Body II” on Friday, December 10. Other grade-level finalists included Caia Watridge ’25, Molly Thacker ’24, and Margaret Han ’22.

The winner of the state finals will have the opportunity to represent the state of Connecticut in Washington, DC for the National Poetry Out Loud Competition. In 2020, Shermya Dover-John ’21 made Walker’s history as the first Poetry Out Loud finalist to advance to the national level.
