Robotics Team Kicks Off 2019 Season

The Wirecats FIRST Robotics Team will be kicking off their official 2019 season on January 5 at 10:00 a.m. FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) will unveil the new game challenge via a NASA webcast to teams all around the globe at the same time. Walker’s team, the Wirecats, consists of approximately 15 students and 8 industry professional mentors who will be tasked with breaking down the challenges of the game and determining a strategy to play the game. Then they will begin prototyping and designing solutions for our robot which will compete against other robots.

Teams around the world are given six weeks for a build season to complete their 120 pound machines. They can then compete at local district tournaments, Regional Championships and then the World Championship in the Spring.

The Wirecats will compete at the Waterbury District event at Wilby High School from March 8-10th, and then again at the Hartford District event at Hartford Public High School from April 5-7th. We would love to see you there!

Membership on the Wirecats team is open to any and all new members who might be interested in a variety of fields: software development, graphic design, marketing, public relations, 3D printing, Computer Aided Design (CAD), photography and videography, social media, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, machining and overall just anyone who wishes to learn something new.
