On Friday, December 13, the Walker’s community enjoyed time-honored holiday traditions including the Holiday Concert and Vespers, Banquet and the 91st Annual Holiday Ride.

Following welcome remarks by Head of School Meera Viswanathan, student musical groups Ensembles, Voce Felice, Harmonious Bells, Choir, Orchestra, Gospel Choir, African Drumming, Grapes a capella and Sundial Sound rock band performed festive songs of the season. Elinor Tandberg ’21 and Janet Hedges ’21 shared their Swedish tradition of Lucia, a holiday commemorating Saint Lucia, the bearer of light. Hayley Bravin ’20 and Anastasia Reid ’21 shared their own seasonal reflections about Hanukkah and Christmas.

After closing remarks by Assistant Head of School Dan Meyers, the Concert and Vespers concluded with a rousing sing-along of favorite holiday tunes.

It was another magical year for the traditional Holiday Ride, now in its 91st year. Held in the Frank O.H. Williams Barn, Walker’s equestrians performed a festive drill team exercise in costume and – always a spectacle – a holiday light-filled routine set to a mix of holiday classics. The community enjoyed hot cocoa to end a special night together as a community.
