Walker’s Equestrians Excel in Florida Horse Shows

Several Walker’s equestrians traveled to Florida earlier this year to compete in the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF), Gulf Coast Winter Classic Series and HITS Ocala, some of the most prestigious equestrian events in the world. See below for individual results:

Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF)

Ava Strohmeyer ’21 was Division Champion and placed first and twelfth in the Children’s Jumper and fifth in the Classic with Feeling, and placed ninth in Low Children’s Jumper with Triomphe (WEF 5); fourth in the NHS Hamel Foundation Medal with Triomphe, fifth and ninth in Children’s Jumper 15-17 and ninth in the Classic with Feeling (WEF 6); fourth in Children’s Jumper with Feeling and second in the Classic (WEF 7); eleventh in Children’s Jumper 15-17 Classic with Feeling and twelfth in Low Children’s Jumper with Vintage Bentley (WEF 9); seventh overall in the WIHS, twelfth in Children’s Jumper 15-17 Classic with Feeling, and tenth in Low Children’s Jumper Classic with Vintage Bentley (WEF 10).

Quinn Van Cara ’23 placed sixth in the 12-14 Equitation Over Fences (WEF 9), fifth in the 12-14 Equitation Over Fences and fifth and seventh in the Children’s Hunter 14 and Under (WEF 10).

Grace Sappington ’24 placed ninth in the Low Children’s Jumpers, sixth in the 12-14 Equitation on the Flat, and sixth in the 12-14 Equitation Over Fences (WEF 9); and eighth in the Children’s Hunters 14 & Under (WEF 10).

Chloe Fares ’24 placed fourth and fourth in the Children’s Hunters 14 and Under and 7th and eighth in the 12-14 Equitation Over Fences (WEF 9); and sixth in the 12-14 Equitation Over Fences, seventh in the 12-14 Equitation on the Flat, and seventh in the Children’s Hunter 14 and Under (WEF 10).

Quinn Bailey ’21 placed fifth in the THIS Children’s Medal 15-17 (WEF 10).

Chloe Lewis ’22 placed seventh in Low Children’s Hunters (WEF 5) and second and fourth in Low Children’s Hunters (WEF 9).

Abi Welch ’20 placed twelfth in Low Children’s Jumper (WEF 8), tenth in Low Children’s Jumper (WEF 9), and ninth in Low Children’s Jumper (WEF 10).

Lily Ridgley ’22 placed twelfth in Low Children’s Jumper Classic with Nicomargue (WEF 6) and sixth and tenth in Low Children’s Jumper with Nicomargue (WEF 9).

Paris Levy ’24 was Reserve Champion in the 12-14 Equitation, third in the THIS Medal 14 and Under and sixth in the NHS Hamel Foundation Medal (WEF 8); and sixth in the USHJA Jumping Seat Medal and fifth and seventh in the 12-14 Equitation (WEF 9).

Janet Hedges ’21 placed sixth both over fences and flat in the 15-17 Equitation with Conspicuous and fourth and sixth in the Large Junior Hunter 16-17 with Casillas CH (WEF 10).

Maddie Mohler ’22 placed third, fourth and seventh in Children’s Hunter 15-17 with Timeless (WEF 1); seventh and eighth Children’s Hunter 15-17 with Timeless (WEF 2); tenth in Low Children’s Jumper Classic with Cilli 18 (WEF 6); twelfth in Low Children’s Jumper with Cilli 18 (WEF 9); and sixth and seventh in Children’s Hunter 15-17 with Blue Monday (WEF 10).

Maddie Olvert ’21 was seventh in the 15-17 Equitation on the flat (WEF 10).

Gulf Coast Winter Classic Series

Skyla White ’23 placed second in the Dover Saddlery Hunt Seat Medal, USHJA Jumping Seat Medal and USHJA Hunt Seat Medal (Gulf Coast Sunshine Classic Horse Show); and first in the Dover Saddlery Hunt Seat Medal, second in the NHS Hamel Foundation Medal, first in the USHJA Jumping Seat Medal, and first in the Non-Pro Hunter Derby (Gulf Coast Mid Winter Classic).

HITS Ocala

Eva Mazzola ’21 placed second, third, fifth and sixth in the Small Junior Hunters with VDL White Chocolate (Ocala Tournament); and fourth and eighth in the 16-17 Equitation with Come Monday and third and sixth in the Small Junior Hunters with VDL White Chocolate (Ocala Winter Finals).
