Winter Olympics Coverage From One of Our Own

Spanish Faculty Nilda Legassa P’23 (left) recently served as a producer for Gold Zone on Peacock, which streamed the 2026 Winter Olympics daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Ms. Legassa, alongside fellow producer Sarah Hughes, led the afternoon block covering primetime events. Anchored by Andrew Siciliano, Ashley Wagner, and Scott Hanson, the show featured a high-intensity “whip-around” format designed to keep viewers on the pulse of the action, often balancing two, four, or even six major events on screen simultaneously.

Ms. Legassa reflects, “What made this experience truly unique was our leadership team. In a field where these roles are traditionally male-dominated, we operated with a rare, all-female ‘front bench,’ including two female producers and an assistant director for this portion of the show. This is only the second time in my career that has happened. It is all thanks to the women who oversee Olympic Production at NBC: Molly Solomon, Amy Rosenfeld, and Becky Chapman.”

In May 2025, Ms. Legassa was honored with an Emmy at the 46th Annual Sports Emmy Awards for her production work on the Summer Olympics in Paris, further recognizing her leadership and excellence in sports broadcasting.
