Walker’s always expects a battle from Hotchkiss in the first game of the Holiday Tournament, and this year was no exception. After getting out to a 30-18 halftime lead, Hotchkiss got their legs under them and fought back in the third quarter, cutting the lead to just 7 heading into the final period. The lead would’ve been less if not for some timely shooting by Walker’s junior Sarah Shaw, who hit two big 3s in the 3rd quarter to extend Walker’s lead. In the fourth quarter, Walker’s really focused defensively, giving up only 7 points to Hotchkiss. Walker’s will move on to play Westminster and Millbrook in the second day of the tournament.
