Lucie Martinelli ’27 has been recognized by The Boston Globe as an All-Scholastic Athlete for her performance on the soccer field this past fall. A prestigious honor that acknowledges athletes throughout New England in both private and public schools, Martinelli is one of few Walker’s soccer players that has been named to this group. Although just in eighth grade, Martinelli often found herself leading Varsity Soccer’s offensive attack with her speed and footwork during the 2022 season. She had 10 goals and 4 assists, including a hat trick against Millbrook.
“Lucie demonstrates a tremendous amount of knowledge of the game,” says coach Colin Griggs. “She has skill on the ball and makes great runs attacking opponents’ defenses. She creates a problem for other teams every time she has the ball at her feet, and she does a great job of finding her teammates to combine with them to create scoring chances.”
