Game Summary

Ethel Walker won against the Frederick Gunn School on Saturday, September 13th, in their first game of the season (25-23, 20-25, 25-18, 25-18). In the first set, outside hitter, Maddie Stirt ‘27, went on two serving runs, where she had four aces. Senior hitter, Liana Salamone ‘26, got two kills on over passes. In the second set, Walker’s struggled in some rotations with serve receive and transitions, but fought to close the nine-point gap halfway through the set, ending on a high note with strong serves from hitter, Yihan Chen ‘27. Walker’s came back strong in the third set, with middle hitter, Asia Alston ‘28, blocking several key hits. Although Frederick Gunn made a big push in the final set, Walker’s was able to hold them off. Liberos, Rachel Lui ‘27, and Joon Mulcahy ‘26, each had 8 digs, and outside hitter, Maddie Stirt ‘27, had 11 kills. It was a strong start to the season, and the coaches look forward to a great season!
