vs. Renbrook School

The team travelled to Renbrook School in West Hartford to play a strong team of 5th-8th graders. Our team battled in the opening minutes, with much of the possession held by Renbrook on our defensive half. With time, our team settled into the game and began having success finding feet on passes and using the sidelines to our advantage. With Walker’s looking to score, Avalon was able to find the back of the net, scoring the first goal of the season and her first goal at Walker’s!

Later in the first half, a Renbrook handball in the box resulted in a penalty kick opportunity. 8th grader Amelia stepped up to take the shot and buried it right under the crossbar, putting Walker’s up 2-0! In the final minutes of the first half, Alex was able to score on the loose ball in the box, slotting the ball into the goal!

In the 2nd half Walker’s held the majority of possession, working together to create opportunities up the field. Shoutouts go to Elsie and Amelia for their tremendous ball handling in the midfield. Later in the 2nd half, a cross was deflected off a Renbrook defender resulting in an own goal, putting Walker’s up 4-0. With ten minutes left in the game, Scarlette assisted Stella in front of the net for the final goal of the game!

The team displayed amazing teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the game! We are looking forward to our next match against a talented Kingswood Oxford team on Wednesday 9/25.
