Game Summary

In the first game of the season Walker’s travelled to Frederick Gunn. With a hot start, Gunn scored the first two goals of the game. Walker’s readjusted and answered to end the first quarter 2-1. In the second quarter Walker’s saw incredible success defensively, shutting down the talented Gunn attackers and scoring three goals off of defensive stops. The Walker’s defensive efforts were led by Kayla Whalen ’25, Caroline Hayes ’27, and Marlo Meador ’25. Up 5-2 going into halftime, Gunn rallied back in the second half, the teams trading off goals and possessions. Draw controls proved to be crucial as scoring went back and forth. Nyjirah Stones ’26 and Jenna Hamel ’25 worked well on the draw circle together, earning numerous possessions for Walker’s in the second half. With 4 minutes left on the clock, Walker’s and Gunn were tied with a score of 8-8. In the final possession of the game, a talented Gunn midfielder sealed the game for the home team, Gunn winning 9-8.
Walker’s goals were scored by Allison Hayes ’25 (3), Nyjirah Stones ’26 (2), Paula Arevalo ’25 (1), Jenna Hamel ’25 (1), and Caroline Toto ’26 (1). Walker’s displayed tremendous skill and effort on the field, marking the start of an exciting season for Walker’s Lacrosse.
