vs. Suffield Academy

For their first home game of the season, Walker’s lacrosse welcomed Suffield Academy to the turf on April 2nd. Starting hot, Walker’s began the game with a 3-0 start in the 1st quarter. Opening goals were scored by Jenna Hamel ’25, Nyjirah Stones ’26, and Allison Hayes ’25. In the 2nd quarter, Nyjirah and Jenna had continued success on the draw circle and retained numerous possessions. Allison and Nyjirah also added to the score in the second quarter, Janalyn Weber ’26 adding an assist. As the second half began, Suffield gained momentum scoring three goals to get the game back into reach. With a score of 5-4 at the end of the 3rd quarter, Nyjirah netted the third goal in her hat trick with 0:31 left in the third. With a quarter left and a score of 6-4, Suffield responded with a goal to make the game 6-5 with 9 minutes left. Walker’s were able to answer with 8 minutes left, and held off the Suffield counterattack until the final whistle. Outstanding play in goal by Marlo Meador ’25 who recorded 13 saves on the day. Caroline Hayes ’27 was also a major contributor, forcing numerous turnovers and transitioning the ball up field.
