vs. Hopkins School

Game Summary

On Saturday afternoon, as part of Family Weekend, The Ethel Walker School’s varsity soccer team hosted Hopkins in a WWNEPSSA Class B contest. After the away side scored two early goals, Walker’s rallied back to score once in each half as the game ended knotted at two.

In the opening half of play, Hopkins began the game by scoring on their first two shots of the contest and led 2-0 after just eight minutes. Walker’s responded eight minutes later when Esther Asamoah ’28 showed her individual skill when she dribbled through a couple of defenders and shot inside the near post for her 11th goal of the season.

In the second half, the Wildcats put the pressure on throughout the entire 40 minutes of action. After a couple of narrowly missed opportunities, Melia Belden ’27 recorded her second goal of the season on a long-range unassisted effort to tie the game with about 22 minutes remaining. Walker’s recorded five more shots on the day but did not score and Walker’s was held to a tie.

Walker’s will return to action on Wednesday, October 21st when they play Pomfret. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 in Pomfret, CT.
