Game Summary
On Saturday afternoon, The Ethel Walker School’s varsity soccer team hosted Loomis Chaffee School in a Founder’s League contest for both team’s opening game of the 2025 campaign. Walker’s jumped out to an early lead but Loomis scored three goals right before and just after halftime to take a 6-1 victory on the day.
Stella-Rose Lecompte ’27 created a chance in the fifth minute when she followed up on a rebound and scored with her left foot in her first game for the Wildcats. Walker’s continued to hold possession and had other opportunities over the next 20 minutes or so, but it remained 1-0 until a three-goal barrage from the Pelicans.
Loomis would score in the 27th minute on a corner kick, two minutes later on a long switch of the field and then made it 3-1 before halftime with just 11 left remaining on the clock. In the second half, the visitors scored three goals in a span of three minutes and 30 seconds to put the game out of reach with 31:21 remaining.
On the day, both teams forced their opponents goalie in six saves. For Walker’s, Emma Mazur ’27 recorded two saves in the first half and four in the second in the eighth start of her career.
Walker’s will get right back to Founder’s League action with trips to Hotchkiss and Kent next on the schedule. The Wildcats came from behind last year to beat Hotchkiss at home 3-2 and earned a 6-1 victory over Kent last September. Kickoff in Lakeville against the Bearcats is set for 3:00 on Wednesday, September 17th.
